Our commitment

Manual Medicine Spine & Sports Physical Therapy wants everyone who visits this website, including people who use assistive technology such as a screen reader, switch device, or voice control, to be able to find our information and book care here.

Conformance target

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard named in the federal Section 504 rule for healthcare websites and the benchmark most commonly used in web accessibility litigation. Conformance means the content satisfies the guidelines: it does not mean every possible situation on every device and assistive technology combination has been tested.

What we have done

This site was built and then audited against WCAG 2.1 AA before launch. That pass included, among other things:

  • Descriptive alt text on photos, staff portraits, and icons that carry meaning; decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
  • A skip-to-content link, one clearly marked heading per page, and landmark regions (header, main content, footer) on every page.
  • Every form field has a real, programmatically associated label, required fields are marked in code (not by color alone), and errors are announced to assistive technology.
  • Text and button colors checked against their backgrounds for sufficient contrast, with the brand color adjusted where the lighter shade did not meet the 4.5:1 minimum.
  • Visible keyboard focus outlines on every interactive element, a working keyboard path through the booking form and the mobile menu, and no keyboard traps.
  • Animations that respect your operating system’s “reduce motion” setting, and content that does not depend on JavaScript running to be readable.

This is not a one-time task. We re-check this site as it changes, and we do not use an accessibility overlay or widget in place of fixing the underlying code.

Known limitations

A few parts of this site are supplied by other companies, and we cannot directly control their code:

  • The Google Reviews widget (in the “Live From Google” section) is served by a third party, Elfsight. If it does not load or is not fully operable with your assistive technology, every review is also readable directly on our Google Business Profile (opens in a new tab).
  • The embedded Google Map on our location section is Google’s own product; we have given it a descriptive title, but its internal controls are outside our code. Our full address, phone number, and directions link are always available as plain text and a real link next to it.
  • The 30-Second Pain Check and the multi-step booking form both need JavaScript to run their step-by-step interaction. If your browser has JavaScript turned off, the booking form shows every question on one page instead of one at a time, and the Pain Check shows a direct link to booking and our phone number instead.

Feedback

If you have trouble accessing any part of this website, or a specific page does not work well with the assistive technology you use, please tell us. We want to know, and we will fix what we can.
